A Simple Guide to the Feng Shui Ba gua

The ba gua chart is just about the most popular and simple feng shui application to use for the beginner or people who don’t want to delve too deep into feng shui. It is easy to apply, use and read, and you don’t need any other complicated equipment or a vast knowledge of feng shui to use it.

The ba gua, often spelt bagua or pa kua is an eight sectioned plan that is used to lay over a house, room or garden. In fact, the ba gua chart can be used on anything in order to get a reading.

The eight sections of the ba gua are associated with the four major points of the compass, North, South, East and West along with the intermediate points of the compass, Northeast, Southeast, Northwest and Southwest. The ba gua is also associated with the eight major trigrams.

According to the trigrams and the compass directions each area is allotted specific and very important, everyday, life-situation According to the trigrams and the compass directions each area is allotted specific and very important, everyday, life-situation they are:

  • Career.
  • Knowledge.
  • Family and Health.
  • Wealth. (Finances)
  • Fame and Rank.
  • Relationships.
  • Children.
  • Friends and Benefactors.

Setting up the ba gua chart is child’s play. If you look at a ba gua chart you always align the careers section with the wall that has the door in, or in the case of two doors in one room, you always go by the door that you consider to be the ‘main’ or most used door.

Regardless of whether the door is in the centre of the wall or not you always place the ‘careers’ section of the chart in the centre. Therefore, according to where the door is actually situated, it will either be in the careers section or, if the door is to the right it will be in the ‘knowledge’ area or if the door is positioned in the left of the wall it will be in the ‘friends’ area.

Once you are confident that you know how and where to position the chart you can go ahead and place enhancements in your specific area of choice.
